"The atmosphere in my office is warm, accepting, and open.  My clients are creative and intelligent people who are working toward goals, navigating personal transitions, and sometimes struggling with life problems.  As a client, your best and quickest outcome from counseling occurs when you commit to your own growth and treatment.  The counseling process is a collaborative experience.  One of my strongest beliefs is that counseling does not have to be hierarchical or unbalanced.  Clients often teach the counselor, teach themselves, and uncover practical truths.  The counselor’s role is not that of guru, leader, or authority figure.  Counselors can, however, instruct, guide, suggest, investigate, question, coach, offer ideas, contribute insights, assist, and accompany you during difficult times.

For clients who are skeptical about the counseling process, my response is relief and respect.  It is important to screen your healthcare providers carefully, especially ones you locate online.  If you are new to counseling, if you are looking for a provider online, or if you have some amount of cynicism or hesitance about whether counseling is a good option for you, then I recommend this:  Call my office and speak with me directly so that you have a chance to use your own instincts, ask your own questions, and make up your own mind about whether or not coming in for a session with me is a good idea for you.  I have a firm belief in trusting oneself to make good decisions, especially when given a chance to explore, ask questions, and make independent judgments.

I have discovered that my clients are smart, savvy, intuitive, and careful people who are looking for a counselor who can match those same qualities and offer a productive sounding board as well as practical tools.
